Dental Insurance
In this age of computers, statistics and college educated analysts, you would think that premiums would be equalized by age, experience factors and health habits. That is not the case.
Dental insurance premiums vary significantly in cost and coverage. Large corporations use their buying power by virtue of the large number of subscribers and obtain lowered rates and higher coverage. Whereas, individual health plans cost more and cover less.
For example, if you have individual insurance that doesn't cover crowns, you will have to pay the entire fee out of your pocket for that crown. If you belong to a high risk group, you may only be responsible for half the cost of a crown. A corporate employee may have to pay a deductible or a co payment, but the insurance will cover the majority of the expense.
If you are self-employed, dental insurance premiums and care premiums may be too expensive for you, too. Your local Chamber of Commerce may have a self-employed workers benefit fund that you could join to cover yourself and your employees. Otherwise, it may be helpful to start your own savings fund in order to self-insure any future dental expenses.
Dental Decay
Bacteria gets into your teeth from plaque buildup. Plaque builds up on your teeth and attacks the outer coating or the enamel. Bacteria get into your teeth and begin to eat away at them.
Your dentist will use fillings, root canals, veneers or caps and bridges. The rest of your teeth begin to shift when you loose a tooth. Expensive bridge work or orthodontist' braces work becomes necessary.
Regular trips to the dentist to remove plaque and examine the dental infrastructure should be part of your malignance schedule. Prevention is better than cure. |
